2017 has been a year of exciting developments for Tropical Foods. As 2018 approaches, we wanted to revisit and share some of the highlights from this past year. A huge thank you to all of our customers and staff for making this such a great year!
In early 2017 we launched our trEAT4u snack bag line. This line contains 7 snack mixes, nuts and dried fruit snacks. trEAT4u was built around a 10 point nutritional criteria that meet many health and nutritional needs. Some of these criteria include calorie limits, no artificial ingredients and portion control.
The Southern Sweets line includes Butter Toffee Peanuts, Praline Pecans and Praline Nut Mix. All 3 items contain no artificial ingredients and have a short, easy-to-read ingredient list. The resealable standup bags are ideal for retail.
This unique snack includes light and airy cubes that are vacuum-fried and all natural. Veggie cubes include sweet potato, squash, carrot, taro, cucumber and purple sweet potato. They are available in bulk or in our Garden Chips line of resealable trays.
Our Snack Treasures line relaunched in 2017. Snack Treasures is a line of 7 different snacks, packaged in a decorative gable box. It’s a great choice for a retail or amenity item with an upscale look.
In February 2017, we celebrated 40 years as a company. From our beginnings as a small bulk natural food supplier to our national retail offerings, we have gone through many changes over the past 40 years. It was wonderful to be able to share this achievement with employees and customers all year long.
Our new Tropical Foods website launched in April of this year. The new website was designed to provide the ultimate user-friendly experience with improved navigation and functionality, mobile optimization, detailed product information and custom search filters. Over 200 new pages of content were created with the customer in mind so you can easily access information about our products.
We unveiled new branding in our trade booth design this year at a variety of food shows. New shows this year included the NGA Show, which was focused on independent grocers and BAR17, a bar/restaurant themed show that was a part of the National Restaurant Association.
We honored our sales teams from all Tropical locations at this year’s National Sales & Marketing Conference in Greenville, SC. This includes over 75 people from our six operating centers (Atlanta, Charlotte, Dallas, Memphis, Orlando and Washington D.C.). In addition to a 2-day sales & marketing conference, there were big winners honored at our awards dinner. This year’s winners were:
We had a great time at the Charlotte CROP Hunger Walk this year. The largest CROP walk in the country, the Charlotte walk takes place each Fall as a part of a nationwide endeavor to raise money to alleviate hunger and poverty in this country and overseas. Since its first walk in 1978, Charlotte has raised almost $8 million to relieve hunger and help those in need. Tropical Foods has been a proud sponsor for over 10 years.
