2018 Snack & Flavor Trends

As this year winds down to a close, it’s time to look at the New Year and some of the snack and flavor trends that are predicted for 2018:


We saw an influx of color with food in the previous year, so expect texture to be a highlight of food for 2018. As with color, you can add texture via natural ingredients like fruit and vegetable pulp, spicy peppers, fermentation in kombucha or texture in bubble tea.


Personalization in advertising and promotions for snacks continues to grow. The use of online behavior to build targeted experiences may spur interesting innovations not only in how products are sold, but also elements of packaging.


Floral flavors have been on the rise in recent years due to kombuchas and other probiotic beverages becoming popular. The subtly sweet tastes and fresh scents are also being seen in snacks with lavender and rose making their move. Expect elderflower to be the big winner this year.
