Celebrating Team Tropical: Kaylin

In our Celebrating Team Tropical series, we commemorate our employees’ work anniversaries by getting to know them and their role at Tropical better. Meet Kaylin, our Retail Business Development Associate, who is celebrating 2 YEARS with this week!

Tell us about your role at Tropical:

What’s your favorite part of your job? – Can’t pick one! I love the people I get to work with and the “teamwork-makes-the-dream-work” atmosphere that comes with that. I’m a “snacker” and LOVE getting to try out new snacks! Lastly, I’m always excited about assisting our customers and providing them the great customer service that we’re known for.

What project/success are you most proud of here?

Being granted the opportunity to work in our Grocery department – this allowed me to take on more responsibilities and learn more about our company! Plus, who wouldn’t want to work for Michael Scott… I mean Mike DeCramer?

What’s your favorite memory from working here?

So far, I’d say the fish tank busting out of nowhere in the office – that was a good time (LOL).

What is on your wish list for your next five years here?

To be able to offer more of our products as an option for any dietary need – Sugar-Free, certified Gluten-Free, certified Vegan. Certifications for those restrictions are a huge selling point for some customers and I believe this would create more opportunities for us as a company. Selling our products internationally would also be cool to see in the next 5 years! And I personally just want to continue learning and growing with the company – I enjoy challenges and trying new things, so I’m excited to see what the next 5 years hold for me here.

What would you do (for a career) if you weren’t doing this?

I do love being able to apply my imagination to projects, so possibly Graphic Design, or working in a bakery – I used to decorate cakes and it was so much fun!

If you could choose anyone, who would you pick as your mentor?

Non-realistic? Gandalf. Realistic? AOC.

Tell us something that might surprise us about you:

I love baking! And not just cakes and cupcakes – I really enjoy the challenge of trying to master a new recipe the first time I do it – obviously doesn’t always go that way, but I do make a mean cream puff.

If they made a movie of your life, who would play you?

Hmm… Emma Stone? Dakota Johnson? Probably Dakota Johnson.
