In our Celebrating Team Tropical series, we commemorate our employees’ work anniversaries by getting to know them and their role at Tropical better. Meet Todd who is our Regional Sales Manager and splits time between our Orlando and Charlotte offices. He’s celebrating 16 YEARS with the company this week!
I have worked at Tropical for 16 years and manage our sales teams in Orlando (FL and International) and Charlotte (NC and SC). My primary role includes overseeing sales in both OC’s and helping each team exceed sales goals. Prospecting and developing corporate accounts, as well as helping Tropical achieve company goals are also part of my top line responsibilities.
This is two fold. The first part is the people I have been lucky to work with over the years. Many friendships have been formed and I appreciate every one of them in their own unique way. The second part is the challenge. In sales, there is pressure to make things happen and that challenge and then the sense of accomplishment that comes after is what makes me tick.
I am most proud of having a part in helping our team sustain sales success over the years. I feel once you have developed a winning plan, implement it with the team, and create an atmosphere of accountability, you have a great chance for ongoing success. There are times it can get rocky and sales aren’t going your way, but I am a firm believer in staying the course and trusting the plan.
Lots of great memories over the years. From a team perspective, I would say Orlando winning the York Cup our first year (2010-2011). We were the new kid on the block and had a lot to prove, while learning a new computer system and in general, a new way of doing everything. The team did a tremendous job embracing the challenge, and in turn, we were rewarded for our hard work and ability to adapt to the many changes.
Continue to improve each day and continue to build our brand. Our company has incredible potential and through forward-looking/thinking and innovation, in 5 years, I would expect Tropical to be an even stronger household name when people are talking about quality snacks.
Well, if I had the professional skill to match my aspiration, I would be a professional tennis player. Getting to travel the world and compete in something you have a passion for would be amazing!
My parents. They taught me to work hard, enjoy life, and pursue my goals. My Dad always encouraged me and told me I could do “it”, and it never mattered what “it” was. I have always used that as motivation and it has helped me accomplish things I otherwise might not have thought possible.
I have never had a cup of coffee. Ever. Ever, ever.
