Let’s meet Sally Min of Guernsey, Inc.


Tell us about your business:

Guernsey, Inc. is an independently owned and operated provider of office supplies, kitchen and breakroom, janitorial and facilities, furniture, and promotional products. Our mission is to provide the lowest total cost solution for products and services used in the workplace. Our primary locations are clustered in the Mid-Atlantic, but we deliver across the country. In short – Guernsey, Inc. delivers happiness to the workplace.


What kind of changes has 2020 brought to your business?

We have been in business for five decades and navigating through a pandemic is something we have never imagined. With most workplaces closing and employees teleworking, we have been hunkering down and conserving cash in efforts to survive the current circumstances. Fortunately, the Guernsey organization is considered an essential business as we supply services and products used by offices, healthcare, and education. We have not shut down throughout all this and have remained opened. During these times, we have been sourcing all different types of PPE and health & safety products, and have been morphing to whatever the conditions have required of us. We have also been adapting best practices and policies for safely conducting business and continue to trudge on.


What’s one interesting thing you have learned in the last month?

One thing I’ve learned in the last month is that communication really is key. During the past few months, we’ve really stressed the importance of communication to deal with the crisis internally. More importantly, communication is essential for promptly notifying our customers of what is happening in the industry – whether certain products are out of stock, if there has been a recall, or different policies set in place. We’ve learned through all these what has worked and hasn’t and can now improve on our crisis plan.


What Tropical products do you sell?

We sell the Tropical Foods bulk snack mixes.


Personal favorite Tropical product?

I’m wild about the wasabi! I can’t seem to put the wasabi peas down…. maybe I’m addicted to the kick…


What sets Tropical apart from the competition?

Bulk snacks have been the primary focus of my relationship with Tropical and I love how fresh and bold the snacks are. You can really tell the products are high quality and the bold flavors tell it all. Tropical sells its story through the quality of their products and our customers appreciate that as well. Also, everyone I’ve worked with at Tropical have always been responsive and great to work with!
